Chinook Chick and Steadfast Dan

Steadfast Dan and Angie embark on an adventure

We are sitting on the precipice of a new phase of our life - travelers of our great country. Since this is the first blog, I should go ahead and introduce myself. My name is Angie. I am 58 years old and a retired business analyst. For the last few years my biggest passion has been quilting. Steadfast Dan is a retired respiratory therapist who does handyman work.

We both love to explore. I've traveled much of the world with my work but have always dreamed of seeing all 50 states. After Dan retired, he spent a couple years traveling around the country in his van so he is an old pro and comfortable in his 1998 Chevy Astro Van. We have taken a few trips in said van but it's not big enough for 2 and IT DOESN"T HAVE A BATHROOM! Nope. I just can't travel in the big blue van.

Well, we stumbled across an incredible deal on a beautiful little Chinook Concourse XL. It is older but absolutely immaculate and looks nearly new. Not only does it have a toilet, it has a shower, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and stove. Dan is negotiating with the seller today. He is having last minute nerves (it is a lot of money) and is fretting about the 10-12 mpg and the projected cost of gasoline.

Fingers crossed I become a Chinook Chick today!

Our plan, very tentative, is to drive to Alaska, stopping at the Great Lakes and Banf, take a cruise down the inside strait of Alaska, then drive down the coast of California to San Francisco, then back across southern US.

I will update this blog as our journey progresses. I hope you'll join us.
