Fire! Fire!

We are now 3 weeks from departure and what happens? Canada catches fire. They have an unprecedented number of wildfires burning in western Canada --- right where we are planning to be. Also, the smoke has spread to northeast US. Dan heard they are even evacuating in the Great Lakes area -- exactly where we also are supposed to be in just a few weeks.

So ... scramble scramble. Although i have made a lot of camping reservations along our current route. which takes us up the Atlantic coast then across northern US and crossing into Canada around Glacier National Park and Banff, the prospect of continued wildfires means rethinking our route/itinerary. I spent time yesterday reverse engineering the trip by going counter clockwise across Southwest US and up the California coast to Vancouver and on to the ALCN Highway.

In other news, Dan's passport finally came! We have been waiting all year.
