Planning our time
While waiting for the

So I’ve been busy planning for the July trip. Have made arrangements for Liam to be boarded in Anchorage while we take our cruise. It will wind up being 10 days. It was a bit of sticker shock. His boarding fee will be about the same as a cruise ticket.
I’m also a quilter (I promise that this isn’t going to be a quilting blog). I decided to make a quilt for the trip and settled on this stained glass looking blue jean quilt. Photo included.
This takes 7 or 8 pair of blue jeans. The jeans at Good Will are actually a bit pricey so I posted on Facebook and suddenly I got a post from a woman who had a whole bag of blue jean square she had collected for a quilt. I will be picking up the free bag, saving me all the time of ripping the jeans apart.
I also started thinking of how to busy myself while we travel and settled on cross stitching. I have done a lot of stitching over the years. Of course I was a lot younger so this time I ordered a magnifying 🔎 glass that will help me with the stitching in case my older eyes get blurry.
I found a pattern for the USA with Adventure Awaits written on it then a book of patterns with 30 parks. So I’ve packed a bag with my thread and aida cloth. I think when our Alaska trip is over I’ll take the 31 cross stitch squares and make a wall quilt out of them.
In other news we got our tags so we are all set. We will probably take a couple days trip with the dog next month as a practice run
Meanwhile we’re learning more about the RV – Big Blue. Daniel called me outside last night because there were mysterious lights in and on Blue. Turns out the satellite control and some of the interior lights run on the battery so we found all the controls to shut everything down.
We are also going to cook and wash dishes in Blue for a few weeks because our kitchen is being remodeled right now. Exciting times! Just grateful we have the extra kitchen in the yard!
